# Connecting to Google

The Google calendar authorization flow allows you to connect your Google calendar to be used for calendar syncing.

### Authorizing Access
Your software provider will provide you with a button or link to follow to connect your calendar with their service, that looks like the below once accessed:

After selecting Google you will see a screen like below where you need to agree to the Cronofy Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, then click 'Link Google Account':

This will lead you to the Google sign in page to input your email and password:

Once signed in, you will be taken to a screen similar to the below to approve the permissions that Cronofy requests:

Once approved, you'll then be redirected back to the software application that requested authorization. This will then perform the required synchronization in the background.

### Which Google scopes does Cronofy utilize?
Cronofy requests the following scopes from individuals when connecting via Individual Connect:

- **email** to identify the user who is authenticating.

- **profile** to access basic profile information, such as the user's name.

- **auth/calendar** to create, read, update, and delete events in the user's calendar.

- **auth/drive.file** to attach files to calendar events. This scope only allows access to files that Cronofy itself uploads — Cronofy cannot read any other files in a user's Drive.

You can read more about these scopes, and Google's Free/Busy only access options, in our [Google scopes guide](/calendar-admins/enterprise-connect-gsuite/which-google-scopes-does-cronofy-utilize/index.md).

### Troubleshooting
If you're seeing the following error when connecting your Google calendar:

![](/calendar-users/google/google-consent-error.61183c196427b04db7ebab906067bf313fb9beefeffddbf1a53935d12d600c8c.png)
This means Cronofy did not receive the calendar access it needs when authorising your calendar. If you receive this error you will need to go back through the clalendar authorization again, making sure to accept all the necessary permissions.
