Custom Emails For Event Invites

When using Free/Busy or No Access Mode, Cronofy does not have permission to write events directly to the end user’s calendar. Therefore, Cronofy will send email invitations to the event attendees.

These invites are able to use a custom email rather than the Cronofy default which allows for stronger branding of your application. This email will also be set as the “organizer” on the calendar event. Some calendar services and clients can refuse to process invites where the sender of the email does not match the organizer embedded within the event. Setting the custom email of both the sender and the organizer’s email address avoids this problem.

How to set up #

To set up this custom email, you will need to do the following:

  • Contact Cronofy Support with the desired email address
  • Apply DNS records to allow Cronofy to send these emails on behalf of your domain
  • Set up email forwarding

Contact Cronofy Support with the desired email address #

You will need to contact support@cronofy.com with the email address you would like to set. This email address will need to have an active mailbox, as once we configure the email identity, you will receive an email from AWS with a link to verify the connection.

Apply DNS records to allow Cronofy to send these emails on behalf of your domain #

Once the email identity is configured, we will need to set up the domain identity. We will send you the DNS record sets which you will need to apply to your DNS provider. Once that is completed we will send invites with the custom email you requested.

Set up email forwarding #

In order for Cronofy to receive updates on the events that are sent, the update emails that are now sent to your custom organizer address must be forwarded to Cronofy for processing.

Without email forwarding in place, responses such as acceptance and declines, will not reach Cronofy and so not be processed.
