# Public links

A public link is a booking link you can share with anyone. Unlike a [scheduling request](https://docs.cronofy.com/schedule/scheduling-and-booking/scheduling-requests/index.md), which you set up for one invitee, the same public link can be used again and again, so it's ideal in an email signature, on a website, or anywhere you want people to book time without asking.

## When to use a public link
Use a personalized scheduling request when you want control over one booking. Use a public link when lots of people need to book, for example to:

- **Book sales demos.** Prospects book with your sales team from a link in your demo request form.

- **Automate interview scheduling.** Put a template's public link in your applicant tracking system's email templates, and candidates book with an interview panel as soon as you send the email.

When a public link books with a pool of people, it offers their combined availability. You don't have to compare calendars, the times offered stay up to date as people are added to or removed from the pool, and anyone with the link can pick a time that suits them.

## Your public link
Your account has a public link from the moment you sign up. It books with you, using your [preferences](https://docs.cronofy.com/schedule/get-started/preferences/index.md), and you can find it and change its settings in your preferences.

Open the link to preview the times people will be offered.

If you generate a new public link, the old one stops working.

## Ask invitees for details
You can ask invitees for their phone number and email address before they book, and make each one required, optional or hidden. You can also add one additional information prompt, such as a question to answer before a feedback session or screening call.

- The prompt can be up to 128 characters, and the invitee's answer up to 360 characters, including spaces.

- Their answers appear in the calendar event.

## Public links for templates
To share a public link for a particular type of event, or for a pool of people, create a [template](https://docs.cronofy.com/schedule/scheduling-and-booking/templates/index.md) of the **Public link** type. It needs a host: a person, or a [selection rule](https://docs.cronofy.com/schedule/scheduling-and-booking/selection-rules/index.md). You can then copy its link from your list of templates.

## Branding
Public links show your Organizational Unit's [branding](https://docs.cronofy.com/schedule/account-team-setup/branding/index.md). If you belong to more than one Organizational Unit, your primary one decides the branding of your personal public link.
