# Templates

A template saves the details of a request you send often, such as a type of interview or demo, so you can reuse them instead of setting the request up each time. It's the quickest way to schedule a high volume of similar events.

A template holds everything a scheduling request does: the host, which can be a person or a [selection rule](https://docs.cronofy.com/schedule/scheduling-and-booking/selection-rules/index.md), the event details, the times to offer, tags and more.

## Template types
Choose a type when you create a template, depending on how you'll use it:

- **Scheduling request:** fills in the request form, so you can send a request with the details already set. It's the only type that can have no host.

- **Public link:** gives you a [public link](https://docs.cronofy.com/schedule/scheduling-and-booking/public-links/index.md) that anyone can book through, such as for sourcing candidates or booking demos. It needs a host or selection rule.

- **Scheduling trigger:** used to schedule automatically when a candidate reaches a stage in your applicant tracking system. It needs a host or selection rule. See [templates with integrations](#integrations).

## Create a template
Create templates from your Organizational Unit's scheduling settings.

- Name the template, and choose its type.

- Choose the host: a person, or a selection rule. You can create a selection rule as you go.

- Set up the rest as you would a [scheduling request](https://docs.cronofy.com/schedule/scheduling-and-booking/scheduling-requests/index.md). Public link templates also let you choose what to [ask invitees](https://docs.cronofy.com/schedule/scheduling-and-booking/public-links/index.md) before they book.

Any problems with the template are shown when you save it. For help, contact [support](mailto:support@cronofy.com).

You can edit or delete a template at any time.

## Placeholders
Placeholders fill in details such as the host's name, the attendee's name or your organization's name, in the title and description of a request. Use them in templates so every event has the right details at a glance, and each invitation feels personal.

Type `{` in a title or description to choose a placeholder. You can use placeholders in any scheduling request, not just templates. Developers can also use [placeholders](https://docs.cronofy.com/developers/embedded-scheduler/placeholders/index.md) with the Embedded Scheduler.

## Templates with integrations
Several integrations use templates to schedule automatically:

- [Lever triggers and feedback forms](https://docs.cronofy.com/connect/integrations/lever/lever-feedback-form/index.md)

- [SmartRecruiters automated interview scheduling](https://docs.cronofy.com/connect/integrations/smart-recruiters/automated-interview-scheduling/index.md)
