## FAQs
### How do I schedule interviews for a hiring manager without being on the call myself?
[Schedule on their behalf](https://docs.cronofy.com/schedule/scheduling-and-booking/schedule-for-others/index.md). Make the hiring manager the host of the request: their availability is offered, and they own the calendar event. As the coordinator, you're still told when the interview is booked, moved or canceled.

### A hiring manager keeps their calendar blocked out. How do I still offer real times?
Offer [custom hours](https://docs.cronofy.com/schedule/scheduling-and-booking/available-times/index.md) with **Whether I'm busy or not**. Cronofy then offers the times you choose, even where their calendar is blocked, and only avoids clashes with other events the Scheduler created.

### How do I schedule panel interviews without chasing everyone’s availability?
Create a [selection rule](https://docs.cronofy.com/schedule/scheduling-and-booking/selection-rules/index.md) for the panel, with everyone eligible to sit on it, and set how many of them each interview needs. Use the rule in a request or template. Cronofy works out the panel's combined availability, and picks people round robin, so there's no cross-checking calendars.

### I’m scheduling a lot of similar interviews. How do I speed that up?
- For interviews you run often, create a [template](https://docs.cronofy.com/schedule/scheduling-and-booking/templates/index.md) with the host, event details and times filled in, and reuse it.

- For a one-off repeat, [copy a recent request](https://docs.cronofy.com/schedule/scheduling-and-booking/scheduling-requests/index.md), including its tags and the times you offered.

- To let candidates book without a request each, put a template's [public link](https://docs.cronofy.com/schedule/scheduling-and-booking/public-links/index.md) in your applicant tracking system's email templates.

### How do I keep track of and report on the interviews I’ve scheduled?
The [requests dashboard](https://docs.cronofy.com/schedule/calendar-and-events/track-requests/index.md) shows every request you've created and its status. Search and filter it, including by [tag](https://docs.cronofy.com/schedule/calendar-and-events/tags/index.md), to find a batch of interviews, and export it for reporting. Owners and Scheduler Admins can also download team-wide [reports](https://docs.cronofy.com/schedule/account-team-setup/reporting/index.md).

### How do I set up a booking link for campus hiring that only runs on specific dates?
Build one reusable link before the event, rather than a request per candidate.

- Add your interviewers to a [selection rule](https://docs.cronofy.com/schedule/scheduling-and-booking/selection-rules/index.md), so any of them can be picked.

- Create a [template](https://docs.cronofy.com/schedule/scheduling-and-booking/templates/index.md) of the **Public link** type for the event, such as "Campus hiring, first round", with the selection rule as the host.

- Offer [custom hours or specific slots](https://docs.cronofy.com/schedule/scheduling-and-booking/available-times/index.md) for the dates you're on campus, rather than your everyday working hours.

- Share the template's public link in your outreach, at career fairs, or on the student portal. Every candidate books into the same window.

For the next intake, update the template's dates. The public link stays the same, so you don't need to send out a new one.

### How do I handle an interviewer who’s on-site some days and virtual on others?
Put them in two [selection rules](https://docs.cronofy.com/schedule/scheduling-and-booking/selection-rules/index.md), one for on-site interviews and one for virtual, each with the days they're available for it. Once they're booked through either rule, that time isn't offered through the other, so they can't be double-booked.

### Why is an interviewer unavailable when they haven’t replied to a meeting invitation?
An invitation they haven't replied to is tentative, and tentative counts as busy, just like an accepted one. Only declining frees the time. See [which times are offered](https://docs.cronofy.com/schedule/scheduling-and-booking/available-times/index.md).

- Ask interviewers to decline, not ignore, meetings they won't attend, especially recurring ones.

- If a time isn't offered, check whether an unanswered invitation is in that slot.

- An all-day or multi-day out-of-office event also removes any interview times inside it.

### How do I book a meeting room alongside my interviewer for in-person interviews?
- Add each meeting room to Cronofy as a resource, or as an attendee.

- Group each office's rooms into a [selection rule](https://docs.cronofy.com/schedule/scheduling-and-booking/selection-rules/index.md), such as "US office meeting rooms".

- Use the room selection rule alongside your interviewer selection rule in the request, and Cronofy checks both together.

- Create an in-person [template](https://docs.cronofy.com/schedule/scheduling-and-booking/templates/index.md) with the room selection rule and the office address, so recruiters don't have to enter the location each time.

### Can I restrict which days a meeting room can be booked?
Yes. Set the room's own availability, its working hours, to the days you want on-site interviews to run, such as Tuesdays and Thursdays. Cronofy only offers those days for any request that uses the room, whatever the interviewers' availability.

### How are interviewers and rooms matched for a campus recruiting event?
- Add each room used for the event as a resource.

- Create a [selection rule](https://docs.cronofy.com/schedule/scheduling-and-booking/selection-rules/index.md) for the event that combines the eligible interviewers and the rooms.

- Limit the template's times to the event's dates, so bookings only land in the right window.

Cronofy then checks rooms and interviewers together, instead of you assigning rooms afterwards.
